Inpatient Withdrawal Management Unit

Inpatient Withdrawal Management Unit (IWMU) is an 18 bed unit located at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.  The inpatient unit manages the acute phase of withdrawal in a safe, therapeutic environment.   The IWMU offers:

• Substance specific withdrawal management
• Assessments
• Discharge planning
• Referrals 
• Addictions education and counselling

Admission to the IWMU is based on individual needs, admission criteria, and bed availability.  After a period of assessment and observation, clients of the Inpatient Withdrawal Management Unit may be referred to the Addiction Day Program to complete withdrawal management protocols initiated on the unit.
